Eclipse Season Summer 2026 by Silver RavenWolf

Don't let opportunity pass you by!
Don't let opportunity pass you by!

The Eclipse Season this summer extends from two weeks prior to the Solar Eclipse (which this year was on August 12) to two weeks after the following Lunar Eclipse on August 28th (approximately September 12). Such seasons are particularly helpful in our everyday practices as well as in planning magical objectives (rituals, spells, meditations, rites) since the energy usually brings to light turning points, endings, and opportunities that we had not previously seen. Instead of waiting to be suddenly confronted with surprises (a trait for which eclipse energy is well known), we can direct our course towards the successes we want by noticing the opportunities that arise just before, during, and right after the eclipse alignment. By making use of this energy, we will be able to enjoy remarkable rewards. The key is to become aware of the flow in our own lives rather than simply trying to keep ourselves afloat through the routine of daily life.

We should bear in mind that during Eclipse Season (and in fact at any other time as well), change is a prerequisite of life.  Always.  Most people are not used to accepting, let alone wanting, the level of change required to live a full, interesting, and satisfying life. Change can be difficult, frustrating, and disturbing, which is one reason some folks regard eclipse energy as negative. Just as with the retrograde pattern, if we have placed too much emphasis on a particular area of our lives, the balanced flow will bring any unfinished (or ignored) business back into alignment, giving us opportunities to achieve our purpose, whether or not this is what we desire.

At present, we are about halfway through the eclipse season, with the solar flow now behind us and the lunar one lying ahead.

The upcoming lunar wave occurs within the pattern of a Pisces (moon)/Virgo (sun) eclipse, an energy concerned with striking a balance between intuition/creativity and analysis/order — a situation that is making us feel the need either to let go or to hold on. This lunar energy relates to the way we reflect or mirror ourselves, to the mask we display, and to our feelings. Our worst response would be to panic and freeze. (It may not be the most sensible thing to do if you choose to lock yourself in the bedroom and play video games until the event is over.) The best approach might be to transcend the sense of feeling blocked and to accept the flow by considering the merits of both signs, then deciding which best suits your desired outcome. Since any eclipse season encourages us to think beyond the usual boundary, failing to take advantage of this opportunity may mean you allow important changes to slip away.

Opposite signs (here we are concentrating on Virgo/Pisces) intuitively understand one another.  One sign’s strengths are the other’s lack, and if we work with the signs like they are two amazing horses pulling our chariot — what dynamic and exciting accomplishments we can make!

This time Gemini and Sagittarius are also included in the broader group since they form a square aspect (a stressor for change) with the opposition between the moon and the sun, necessitating adjustments which are often connected with the houses that these signs govern in your natal chart.

The biggest question is always:  What does this mean to you? (go ahead and show an angst-filled expression while clutching your shirt collar — it's okay, I fully understand) In relation to how you can use star power to your best advantage.

Well!  I thought you’d never ask!  Just as I use retrograde periods to “test” new theories, products, and methods (because I figure if it is going to tank, this is the time to find out)— I’ve discovered eclipse windows can be excellent for learning something new that has its own “curve” - where you aren’t expected to be perfect ASAP and supports learning in a way that you haven’t experienced before.  Educating ourselves moves us forward.  Forward motion moves us out of the stress and into accomplishment because even if we fail… we’ve actually won with the momentum alone.  The new information is a bonus!

The upcoming lunar eclipse will take place August 28th, minutes before the Full Moon.  During the eclipse, this powerful moon is sandwiched (by astrological longitude) between the fixed stars Deneb and Fomalhaut — creating a powerhouse punch of creativity and intuition — unfurling the glittering path between the worlds in a way you may not have noticed before.  These energies can assist you in transcending and obtaining mastery while moving with grace.

Take a time to consider just exactly what you’ve been up to these last few weeks (since about the 1st of August).  How have you naturally gravitated to your own learning curve?  What’s been your inner drive?  Then, view these next few weeks as a wonderful time to work creatively — to challenge yourself on something you never thought you could do.  Small closure opportunities may also abound — finally fix that kitchen drawer, fill out the form that’s been hanging on the edge of your desk gathering dust, restack the cinderblocks on the property before winter, order those tarps before you need them in the fall, etc.

This eclipse season (solar and lunar combined) I jumped into learning Asian cuisine, figured out how to use alcohol markers, tried my hand at zendoodling, turned my artwork into mugs for the upcoming Samhain and Yule holidays, and watched movies and documentaries I never thought I’d be interested in.  I also updated my computer equipment (um, I bought it last year and never got it up and running), made some business choices I’d been procrastinating on, upgraded my resin work, let go of streaming services I didn’t need, made plans and modifications for my next year’s garden that match my capabilities, and said goodbye to my candle-making equipment.

How did I begin… because some of these choices?  Were super hard.  I looked for the balance between want and need — I love Asian food, but eating out often is expensive.  If I learned to make these dishes myself?  Savings!  I wanted to explore a new art form, and I needed to produce original art for this article (and others) while embracing peace of mind — zendoodle!  Oh, and the money I spent on the Ohuhu pens?  I turned the art into an art “form” to share with others, which required me to learn a new platform to offer my work.  Yet...I still need training wheels to handle those chopsticks!

Traditionally, folks are told not to begin anything “new” during an eclipse because the edges of the situation can be obscured. The direction you are going may be unclear, or take a strange turn that you aren’t expecting — but that’s for “finished” things like signing a contract (much like a retrograde), starting a new business or declaring that “open for business” calendar choice, choosing a wedding date, or signing on the dotted line for a house. However, I’ve found eclipse seasons are great for breaking barriers, jumping past your fear of trying new things, and building toward an exciting and meaningful future, with the understanding that this is a learning experience and that the result isn’t expected to be perfect. That failure is absolutely okay and truly part of the journey.

I also started a new morning routine — nothing elaborate or highly mystical.  I kept it simple.  Deep breathing, a five-bullet gratitude list that changes every day, and then I concentrate on plugging into the earth, water, sky concept where I mentally touch free-association images — sun, trees, garden, creek, wistlepig …uh?  Okay.  etc.  Mentally touch it.  Plunge into it.  Breathe it.  These also change each day.  It’s like connecting snap-in pieces.  And I set a cutoff time for daily tasks.  I get it done by 2 no matter what time I got up that morning.  If it isn’t finished by 2?  Tomorrow is another day.

Eclipse Season?  Nothing to fear!  And don’t put your life on hold!  Be creative!  Stop circling the same old blah!  Get moving!  Get living!
