Our weather has been unseasonably cold, so we have been setting our new veggie plants out during the day and then bringing them in at night. We've been doing the same thing with our wintered house plants -- the patchouli, basil (who absolutely, positively hates the cold), and a few others. Luckily, the peas are still going strong!
In honor of Earth Day on 22 April, which is also a New Moon in Taurus, our challenge today is: Celebrate the Earth!
Choose any activity that you feel honors the Earth! This could be an Earth Mother ritual, taking care of your house plants, working in the garden (weather permitting), cleaning out bird feeders, or helping a senior citizen with their yard work, etc. Earn 100 stars! We've been experiencing somewhat twitchy weather, so on Sunday when the sun was finally out I rushed to pick violets for my liquid fluid condensers. I also gathered more speedwell for my healing candles and checked out the progress of the dandelions in the yard. In a few weeks, I'll dig those roots and roast them for dandelion root tea!
I also spent an hour on bird feeder maintenance -- cleaning and filling, making sure that the wish tree is ready for our summer song-bird paradise! Then it was off to the shed to organize this year's yard tools, charge batteries, and prepare for lawn grooming! I've been contemplating more container gardening and adding a flower bed around the ritual circle. I will have to replace the firepit this year; but, I haven't decided exactly what I want. The old one lasted 7 years and many glorious magickal fires! I will be moving what's left of it and turning the pieces into a flower bed. Remember all things change; but, nothing ever dies. Energy lives eternal.
