Day 28 - Great Release Program by Silver RavenWolf

Theme:   Honor, celebrate, and seal, because it is Sunday, December 28, and there are only four days (including this one) left in the Great Release Program.

Reward:  10 Stars

Magickal Moment:  The castle is quieter today, not because the Boogers have stopped being Boogers, but because even they can feel the program beginning to turn toward its ending. The Countess sets a long cloth on the great table and lays out small treasures gathered from the month, a bit of ribbon, a tiny bell, a candle stub, a pine sprig, a smooth stone, ordinary things that became symbols because you showed up. RattleBones trots in, very official, and announces that today is not about fixing, it is about honoring. The Ten Little Boogers bring in a small bowl of water, a pinch of salt, and a handful of evergreen, and PopPop grumbles that ceremonies are fine as long as nobody leaves glitter on the floor. The Count smiles and says, we will keep it simple, and we will make it real.

Main Release

Release the urge to judge your progress. Release the idea that you “should have done more.” Release the habit of seeing only what is still undone. Today you are honoring what you completed, what you shifted, what you learned, and what you proved to yourself, which is that you can change your life in small steps, one day at a time.

15 Minute Quick Task

This is a game called Four Gems. Set a timer for fifteen minutes and choose four tiny wins, one for your space, one for your body, one for your mind, and one for your spirit. For your space, clear one surface just enough that it looks peaceful. For your body, drink a full glass of water or stretch for two minutes. For your mind, write down one thing that is still bothering you, then write one next step, not the whole plan, just the next step. For your spirit, light a candle, touch your heart, and say, I showed up. When the timer ends, stop, because this is celebration, not punishment.

Booger Boost

The Ten Little Boogers form a parade, humming their own victory tune.  RattleBones declares you officially “Four-Days-Left Fabulous,” which is ridiculous and also exactly what you need. They insist you take a bow, because you have earned it, and because they are determined to make honoring yourself feel normal.

Weekly Check-In

Look at your last weekly goal and simplify it for the final stretch. Choose one small action you can repeat daily for the remaining four days, something doable even if life gets loud. Finishing strong does not mean finishing exhausted.

Astro Snapshot

The Moon stays in Aries all day.  The emotional weather is bold, fast, and impatient with anything that feels like a delay. You’ll want motion, decisions, and clean momentum.  You’ll have less tolerance for hovering or hinting. The lunar phase is Waxing Gibbous, providing a “build it, refine it, keep going” energy.  No nap-and-forget-it.  Progress comes from action plus small course corrections.

Aries Moon days can bring boldness and drive, but they can also spark harsh words or friction, especially if you’re tired, hungry, or too busy. Channel that energy by running errands, doing a quick tidy-up, speaking directly but kindly, or focusing on finishing one task instead of starting many. There’s also a gentle note today as the Moon meets Chiron, stirring old wounds. Use this for honest self-care, not conflict. Consider nurturing yourself with self-care practices such as journaling your thoughts, taking a calming walk in nature, or practicing mindfulness meditation to respond to Chiron's influence with compassion.

Late in the day the Moon forms its last major aspect -- a trine to Mercury. After this, it goes void-of-course until it enters Taurus the next morning. So, make key decisions, purchases, and serious talks earlier if possible, and use the late evening to relax and avoid overthinking. Also, the Sun is parallel to Pluto, intensifying the need for control. Channel this energy into self-mastery, not proving a point.  Ask yourself what you are trying to control because you don’t feel safe.  A simple, practical mantra for Sun parallel Pluto days-- “I choose what strengthens me, and I release what weakens me.”

Today’s Reward

Ritual for Celebration, Honor, and Conclusion – This is a lovely ritual that can be done any time – once a week, when you finish an important project, for holiday celebrations, seasonal accomplishments, etc.

Find a quiet spot and bring one candle, a small bowl of water, and a pinch of salt. If you have evergreen, add it, if not, a simple leaf or nothing at all is fine. Sprinkle the salt into the water and stir clockwise three times, saying, “I cleanse what clings, I keep what strengthens”. Light the candle and place your hands over your heart, then speak three sentences, one for what you released, one for what you gained, one for what you are choosing next.

What I Want Released: ________________________________________________________

What I Want To Gain: _________________________________________________________

What I Choose To Do Next:  ____________________________________________________

Now dip your fingers into the salted water and touch your forehead, your throat, and your heart, saying, Clear mind, true words, steady heart. Finally, hold your hands toward the candle flame (not too close) and say, “I honor the work I have done, I honor the self I am becoming, I honor the days ahead, may I finish with compassion, may I continue with strength, may the path stay open”.

Sit for one minute and breathe, then blow out the candle and imagine the glow staying inside you. Give yourself your 10 Stars and one real-world treat, something warm, something comforting, something that says, yes, I did this.

Chef Marmalade’s New Year Cookies – Vanilla Orange Sparkle Sugar Shortbreads

Buttery, crisp, perfect with tea, and you can dress them up with sprinkles for “New Year shine.”

Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional – 1 tablespoon finely grated orange zest (about 2 medium oranges) for a clear orange note. Tip: zest only the orange part (no white pith), and mix the zest into the butter and sugar first so the flavor distributes evenly.

Directions

Heat oven to 325°F. Cream butter and sugar until smooth. Mix in flour until a soft dough forms. Roll into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet, or press dough into a log, slice into coins, and bake as rounds. Flatten slightly with a fork if you like. Bake 14–18 minutes, until the edges are just barely turning golden. Cool 10 minutes on the pan, then move to a rack.

New Year's touch, optional but fun

Before baking, press the tops into sugar or sprinkles, or add a single gumdrop before the cookies completely cool.  This is the magick “midnight dot”.  Be sure to eat your gumdrop as the new year dawns.

Marmalade’s Grimoire of Enchanted Cookery – Secrets of Whisk and Wand

Marmalade’s magick book is the enchanted cookbook and working grimoire of Boogie Knight Castle, a warm, well-loved volume that lives half in the kitchen and half in the “between-the-worlds” cupboard where practical things become powerful.

On the surface, it’s a recipe book with stained pages, butter fingerprints, little orange-zest smears, handwritten notes in the margins like “stir clockwise for comfort,” “add a pinch of salt for protection,” and “do not let PopPop near the frosting.” But the deeper truth is that every recipe is also a formula, not just for food, but for happiness, protection, luck, healing, love, and harmony. It teaches that magic doesn’t have to be dramatic to be real.

Enchantment can be as simple as a simmer pot that clears a house, a cookie baked with intention for a fresh start, or a cup of citrus tea made to brighten the spirit and call back courage. The ink sometimes shimmers when the Moon is right.  Pages you need tend to open just right, and if you cook with a sour heart the measurements mysteriously go wrong until you take a breath and start again.
