Bitty Day found me finishing up several herbal projects -- including grinding Tulsi Tea, packaging African Basil, bottling Tulsi Tincture and Marigold Tincture, making fire brooms, and pouring Peppermint Loofah soap.

Today's Challenge: Get Organized! This is a fun "you choose" Day where the main focus is to organize as many things as possible. Use today in a Kaizen (one step at a time) fashion to "set up" different unfinished projects for future completion. Last year I bought several small plastic bins for just this purpose. Each day, I would place all items related to a single project in a specific bin. For example -- I made two tinctures over the summer, put the jars in the closet, ordered the bottles, but never got around to transferring the tincture to the bottles. And then there's the labeling, right? To get things moving, I put the tincture, the bottles, and the unfinished labels in a box. When I had time, I printed the labels and put them back in the box. Another day I sanitized all the bottles and droppers. Yesterday, on Bitty Day, I poured all the tinctures. I put the filled and labeled bottles back in the box because the next step is distributing them to friends. I've done the same process with quilting projects, birthday gifts (when you are planning to give several items) or are having trouble finding a box, paper, or other special embellishments -- and even candle and soap making. Using the bins actually helps to reduce the anxiety you feel at not getting something done right away, and is super helpful if a project has so many steps you can't complete them all at once. If you can organize five different things today you earn 10 gold stars!
I try to use all parts of the plants I grow and harvest. Once I've removed all the dried leaves, I make Fire Brooms -- these are gathered herb branches, tied with twine and banded together, dipped in paraffin or soy wax. Use to clear outdoor sacred space or place in sacred bonfires. Add embellishments such as glitter and colored ribbon for High Holy Days.
